Patients ask, “What do I do with these old hearing aids?” They can be donated to the Lion’s Club for their “Ear of the Lion Program” or to Rotary International. Used hearing aids that go behind the ear can be reconditioned or several in-the-ear types may make up one good one. These donated aids are much needed and appreciated by both clubs. Last February, Ken Billheimer and a colleague from San Luis Obispo did a project with the Rotary in Mexico and fitted about 40 hearing aids to children. Some were donations from generous people such as you and others were purchased through a grant from the Rotary. So, if you have some old aids lying around, working or not, please consider donating them. There is likely someone out there that would appreciate your generosity.
