Caring for Your Hearing Devices

There is the usual daily care and maintenance of your hearing devices.  Then there is storage care.  What do you do with them when they are not in your ears?   This is when they are most likely damaged or lost.   When you take them out   at home, always put them in the same place.  If you are not at home, put them in the appropriate case.    Never wrap them in a napkin or tissue.  No one looks inside a napkin or tissue before throwing it away.  They just toss it.  Keep them away from animals.  Dogs love to bite and chew them and cats love to bat them around and then hide them.  And always be careful of swallowing them.  Yes, it has happened with the small hearing aids.  They have been mistaken for medication and in one case a lemon drop and were swallowed.  Your hearing devices are expensive and should be stored as you would any expensive item.
And what about the picture that you see?  It was run over by a car.  It has happened several times.  The moral to the story is to be careful and store your hearing devices in the appropriate container.
