Well, apparently it is. In a recent study in the British Medical Journal, a group of British doctors reported a case of a 55-year old man who suffered tinnitus and reduced hearing in his right ear after 18 months of playing golf three times a week with titanium drivers.
These new drivers add distance to the golfer’s stroke which is leading to their popularity.
The study reported that all of the thin faced drivers produced sound levels above 120 decibels and the loudest tested approached 130 decibels. This is close to the volume of a gun shot. Only two of the six steel drivers produced hazardous noise levels.
